This/ time phrases
Message from tkb1988 posted on 23-03-2022 at 05:03:02 (D | E | F)
Hello,

When we use 'this' in time phrase for example "I will go to Delhi this week", we are said that 'this' in the time phrase is a determiner and is usually an adjective as most grammarians consider the determiners as adjectives.
Then, "this week" is a combination of adjective and a noun. But the phrase is here used adverbially. Now, a noun preceded by a preposition does the work of an adverb when it modifies the verb.
Then, is there a prepositional force in 'this' to make the phrase adverbial?
Please discuss it.
With regards,
Tapan
