Message from alok19evefz posted on 18-09-2012 at 17:31:34 (D | E | F)
Hello,

Can you help me please?

"I've got good news for you." but why "I've got a good news for you." is not correct?
Thank you for your answers.

Hello,

"News" is a collective word, like "chocolate" in a way. It means "all the news" and it is singular.
The news is good. I have got some news for you.
If you want to refer to a specific piece of news, it is like "chocolate", you break a piece of it:
"I heard a strange piece of news."

It works like "hair" which means all your hair, not each individual piece of hair:
My hair is blond: I've got blond hair, I've got good news.

Words that work the same way:
I bought some furniture. I bought a piece of furniture;
Listen to my advice: Let me give you a piece of advice.
I got some information from her. Listen to this piece of information.
