Bonjour tout le monde,
S'il vous plait je voudrais savoir si cette phrase est grammaticalement correcte.
''The postman knocking at the door''. Je ne vois pas le verbe to be.

La phrase correcte serait bien sûr (hors contexte !):
The postman is knocking at the door.

Si tu veux dire qu'il est EN TRAIN de frapper à la porte, tu dois utiliser un présent progressif. Celui-ci se forme avec l'auxiliaire Etre + Verbe + ing.

i think that you must use the present prigressive and say : "is knocking" but if this sentence is in a story , the author can say: ".....the postman.....knocking the door ......" he deletes some words to show emotions of a character , for example, from this context you feel that the action of knocking the door is very slowly: that means that the character is very afraid of the postman .
